Why Independent Music Is Important To Support

 With all the mainstream music you hear being played over and over again on every radio station across the country, after awhile you just get to a point where you say to yourself " I want something else".

Being a DJ for 24 years, I have to listen to and play many different styles and genre's of music. Some of which is not exactly what I would call actual music.

 So when I am at home and getting to listen to music created by independent folk and Americana Artists, it helps me to reconnect and concentrate on working with those musicians to help promote them their music.
One of my main goals has always been to create and build up a brick and mortar radio station that will be committed to focusing on presenting the music by all of these independent artists from all over the world. For now I have found a station online that works to promote all indie artists from around the world called Native Family Radio.

Since I decided to slow down from being a full time wedding DJ, I am now working with many new upcoming artists in Country, Rock and Folk Music Genres who I have found online and through some well known promoters. 

The one thing that makes Native Family Radio different from everyone including mainstream radio is that it is all inclusive to indie artists young and old. Those who may just be starting out to those who have been dedicating their entire lives to their music for years.

So many of these musicians who travel just to have their music heard  do not get to make the huge amount of money that mainstream artists do with having the support of corporate donations, sponsors, and making huge amounts of money from concerts. 

This is why it is so important for all of us to show our support to these artists who do this for their passion of music both here in the US and all over the world, as they need our support so they can continue doing what they love for everyone.

As the host of both The Mid West Plainsman and Pagan Artist Spotlight, My focus and main objective will always be to work with all independent artists from all across the country and into the UK including the land down under. Their music tells stories from their journeys to life's adventures.
Pagan folk music will always be important not just to me but to many others out there who discover ways to find release, to keep themselves centered and grounded just by listening to their favorite musician.
